Granite countertops

Granite countertops are distinguished by their dotted, grain-like structure. The size and arrangement of the grains determine the color and „character“ of the natural stone. Natural granite types with contrasting structures have expressive patterns, while fine-grained, single-colored granite types are very monotonous and easy to adapt.

Quartzite countertops

Due to the more difficult processing process, quartzite products are more expensive than granite. However, it is a great choice if you are looking for a unique interior accent, with expressive patterns like marble.

Marble countertops

Marble is a particularly beautiful natural stone, but before installing a marble countertop, you should critically evaluate its operation. Marble countertops are sensitive to staining substances (beets, berries), acids, fats and scratches. In order to improve the technical properties of the products, we impregnate them with special agents and can process them with UV technology, which increases the stone's resistance to acids.

Bathroom countertops

When choosing a type of stone for a bathroom countertop, it is important to consider properties such as moisture resistance, durability, aesthetics, ease of maintenance, and installation options.

We can use UV technology for marble bathroom countertops. This makes the stone resistant to acids and allows you to safely use the countertop without having to worry about special care.

In order to achieve a seamless design in the bathroom, a bathroom sink made of the same type of stone can be installed in the countertop.

What stones are best for countertops?

Functional stone countertops

When choosing a type of stone for your kitchen, it is important that the surface is not damaged by staining food, acid, high humidity and grease. Therefore, it is worth using resistant materials:

Natural stone – granite, quartzite;

Artificial stone – anglometed stone, quartz

Aesthetic stone countertops

In nature, we can find many types of natural stone with a wide variety of patterns and colors. For products that do not require exceptional technical characteristics and resistance, the following are suitable:

Advantages of natural stone countertops

The hardest and most durable types of natural stone are granite and quartzite. These materials have the following common advantages:

Scratch resistance. Natural granite and quartzite are less likely to scratch;

Heat resistance. You can place a hot pot or pan on natural stone without worry;

Resistance to coloring agents. All natural stone products must be impregnated with special impregnating agents suitable for contact with food. Impregnated products are much more resistant and do not absorb coloring substances (beetroot, berry juice, etc.) in a short time;

Acid resistance. Natural granite and quartzite products are much more resistant to acids than natural marble. Acidic products often found in the kitchen area (citrus fruits, wine, champagne, yogurt, limescale removers, etc.) can damage the polished surface of softer, more absorbent natural stone types;

Longevity. Although natural stone products require a larger investment, they will certainly delight you for many years. With the right choice of stone type, a quality manufactured and installed product will be easy to maintain.

Uniqueness. Each natural stone slab used for a countertop is unique and unrepeatable. Thanks to the extremely wide selection of natural stone types, you will definitely find the one that suits you best. Natural stone can be both the main accent of a home interior and an inconspicuous and functional element;

Natural stone surface treatment for countertops

Mirror-like gloss

The polished and shiny surface of the stone looks luxurious, bringing out the extremely clear shine of natural stone and its bright, natural color.

Matte

In modern and minimalist interiors, polished stone countertops are most often chosen.

Antique, brushed

Antiquing, by brushing the stone, highlights its natural structure and achieves a deep effect.

Artificial stone countertops

Artificial stone is a hard material that is as good as, and in some respects even better than, natural stone products. In the market, artificial stone is also called quartz or anglomerated stone.

AKMI works only with the highest quality, extremely good technical characteristics, solid materials. We cooperate with reliable, globally recognized, long-standing market leaders, manufacturers. As a result, customers are happy with high-quality products that meet European standards.

Quartz is usually sold in slabs (preliminary dimensions, which vary by manufacturer, 3250x1590, thickness – 12, 20, 30 mm).

UAB AKMI has been working with the following world-famous brands for many years:

Advantages of artificial stone quartz

Easily adjustable and unchanging. The range of quartz colors from reliable manufacturers is very wide. Designers and architects, familiar with the color range, can easily create combinations with other materials and include the selected colors in their interior and exterior projects. The customer can purchase the entire combination for one or several projects and the result will be predictable and stable;

Colors. Manufacturers of well-known brands are constantly investing in creating new colors and surfaces that are based on the most popular interior and exterior trends. The assortment includes not only monochrome colors, but also expressive marble patterns, limestone, travertine, sandstone, concrete patterns and textures. This is a great solution for anyone who wants a marble countertop in the kitchen and doubts about the high-maintenance requirements;

No need to impregnate. Quartz has a very dense structure, it does not absorb coloring agents, and it does not require impregnation. Maintenance of quartz products is extremely simple;

Panel format and thickness. Manufacturers, in line with the latest fashion trends, are introducing extremely thin panels (e.g. 4 mm). This allows furniture manufacturers and designers to produce furniture with quartz facades. Such facades are resistant, easy to clean and maintain. Due to their light weight, special furniture construction solutions are not required. Designers can create seamless spaces;

Sinks, washbasins. Some manufacturers offer sinks made of the same material as the countertops. This is a great solution for those looking for a seamless and easy-to-maintain surface. The sinks are resistant to heat and thermal shock. After the sink is glued under the countertop, AKMI polishes the edge, thus creating a seamless product.
